Things To Consider When Choosing Your Newborn Photographer

Are you a pregnant Mumma to be in Perth? Are you looking to choose your Newborn Photographer? Here are some tips for you to consider.

Things to consider when Choosing Your Newborn Photographer

You may have seen on the local Mum’s and Bub’s forums, that when someone asks recommendations for a newborn photographer, they always ask for the ‘cheapest’ or one that ‘doesn’t cost an arm and a leg’. But with the cheapest, may not provide the security you are looking for, in someone who you would like to photograph your most precious being, the little person, who can make your soul ache, just by their little cry.

Here are some things for you to think about when choosing the right photographer for you.

Insurance

In the unlikely circumstances that something unforeseen occurs during the photoshoot, ensure the photographer has public liability insurance

Baby Safety

There is nothing so precious as your newborn. So please check your photographer has trained in safely posing a newborn. Many images are created from more than one image or tricks of the camera, this is called a composite, and can create an artistic illusion, while keeping baby totally safe.

Up To Date Vaccinations

If vaccinations are important to you, ensure your newborn photographer is up to date with their vaccines. The most ideal time to photograph a newborn is between 5 and 12 days old, well before a baby can be vaccinated. By being up to date with their immunisations, this keeps the newborn as safe as possible.

Price and Portfolio

While price is always a consideration, a more established, professional photographer will always need to charge more than your beginner photographer. Costs of business including insurances, safety courses and equipment need to be factored in. This once in a lifetime moment, never to be captured again, so ensure you look at the photographers past work so their style is what you are looking for, not just their price.
